Voluntary work or work experience are two of the best ways to improve your CV and gain hands-on experience of the ‘real world’.
Work experience is often ignored by students, who presume it only means making coffee, photocopying and stuffing envelopes. But in reality, employers are keen to see that you have some experience of the job market, a willingness to learn, and some variety in the kind of environments where you have worked.
