Graduate SMEs Jobs

SMES

Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

Start salary: £16,000 - £22,000
Professional Salary: £25,000 - £30,000
Required qualifications: No specifics but a lot of employers will look for a relevant 2:2 degree
Jobs available: SMEs encompass such a huge variety of sectors and industries that it's difficult to tell how many jobs are currently held, however they do account for a huge percentage of different sectors turnover.

Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are defined as any business enterprise incorporating less than 250 staff, and in 2009 small and medium-sized enterprises together accounted for 99.9 per cent of all enterprises, 59.8 per cent of private sector employment and 49.0 per cent of private sector turnover.
Less than a quarter of graduates secure a graduate training scheme with a blue-chip employer, so while the on-campus graduate recruitment may be dominated by the big employers, SMEs offer a wide range of opportunities for enterprising graduates.
Read the case studies of recent graduates who have embarked on exciting careers in this sector and the advice articles below for more information on SMEs.
