ABOUT THIS EMPLOYER

Shell Step is a UK-wide programme offering undergraduates project based work experience within small and medium sized businesses. Shell Step work placements last 8 weeks and start in July.

Projects are available within a number of industries and sectors; ranging from science, engineering, the creative industries, as well as those in the not-for-profit sector.

Following completion of their projects students are entered into local competitions. Winning students could see themselves and their host company progress right through to the high profile Shell Step UK Final, where they could be announced as the ‘Most Enterprising Student’.

The types of projects you could get involved in include:

  1. Research and Development – product development and research projects
  2. Business Systems and Processes - projects focused on administrative systems, key performance indicators and business practices
  3. Internet and Marketing – ecommerce, website design, company literature and marketing projects
  4. Manufacturing Processes – quality analysis and efficiency projects

You will be able to develop practical experience for your CV, build your confidence and business acumen to impress prospective employers, and to enhance your career prospects.

Also, this is a paid work experience programme giving you the opportunity to earn £200 a week, which is all exempt from Tax and National Insurance contributions.
