New jobs created
Despite the gloom among tax-paid jobs, vacancies are still popping up across the land, mostly in the private sector. Inside intelligence about who’s recruiting can help you target applications, and mentioning industry developments helps you appear better informed.
Tesco's partnership with financial services company Fortis, for example, is on target to create more than 1,500 jobs across the UK. The deal is part of Tesco's recent announcement that it wants to break into the banking sector. Not a bid to improve their popularity, then, but when it comes to job opportunities, every little helps.
Jaguar Landrover are also doing their part by making a multi-billion pound investment in their manufacturing sites. 1,500 new jobs will be created at their Halewood plant in Merseyside next year and jobs at Castle Bromwich and Solihull have been protected.
Up to 1,000 new jobs are also to be created in Scotland, following the announcement of a collaborative effort by Scotland & Southern Energy and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The two companies are spearheading a project to create an offshore wind farm and carbon capture facilities. 100 new jobs will be created immediately in SSE's Glasgow center for engineering excellence with additional jobs coming over the next five years.
