Graduate Advice - City University's Offer for Engineering Graduates
City University's Offer for Engineering Graduates
Engineering students and graduates who want to go into healthcare might want to consider a new course being taught at City University London.
Starting in September 2010, City will offer an MSc in Clinical Engineering with Healthcare Management. The new course aims to give all the skills necessary to work with advanced medical technology, combining training in management with study in healthcare and engineering. Dr Justin Phillips, program director for the MSc, believes it will help to fill a void in the healthcare industry. Asked about why the course was created, he said: "There is a need for specific training aimed at clinical engineering and there isn't much provision of that in this country." The course was developed in consultation with clinical engineers from the NHS and will feature guest lecturers from some of the UK's top teaching hospitals. One of its key aims has been to give NHS staff and graduates a chance to study whilst working.
