MAKING THE GRADE
Was your university one of the winners in the Times Higher Education Awards 2008?
The Awards ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London's Park Lane on October 23rd, saw 17 different universities win the awards up for grabs. Top dog in the top slot was The University of Leicester, which was crowned University of the Year for being 'elite without being elitist'. Other big winners were Harper Adams University College for Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Development, Loughborough University for Best Student Experience, and University of Nottingham, named as Entrepreneurial University of the Year. A Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Queen Mary, University of London's Professor Peter Hennessy, who has been described as a 'national institution' for his teaching of modern history.
