The Role

This role is based within RM?s strategic bidding team who design solutions for large, £multi-million bids. Such projects range in size from £1m to £50m+ in value and are currently a strategic growth area of the business. The solutions designed by Services Architects include both large-scale College Managed Services and Services within the Building Schools for the Future scheme. Examples of projects that members of the Bid Support Team have recently been involved in include;

A Graduate Services Architect will, with the support of senior colleagues, be responsible for the design, pricing and risk mitigation strategies for the services solution for such bids. The design of the service will include implementation planning, staffing levels and performance criteria. A Services Architect will work as part of a broader bid team to ensure that the design of the service is competitive, will meet the customers? needs, is deliverable, will make an acceptable profit and is differentiated from the competition.

The role will include significant interaction with customers at a senior level to understand requirements and present back potential solutions.


Responsibilities

Graduate Services Architects will have the following key responsibilities;

- Working within cross company, multi-disciplinary bid teams, designing and costing ICT managed services solutions to meet customer needs ;
- Working to meet tender deadlines;
- Working within bid teams to help win new business opportunities;
- Work with customers, 3rd parties and internal teams to develop ICT managed service solutions;
- Obtaining cross department buy-in and sign-off for solutions with senior stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have real opportunity to influence key areas of the bid solution, as well as gaining experience in many areas of the competitive tendering process from initial bid submission through to contract negotiations, financial close and handover to operational delivery teams. Graduates will rapidly develop a skill set that has significant market value.


Training and Development

The successful applicant will receive tailored induction training on commencement of the role. This will be supported by an individual training planned agreed with your line manager during on-going regular 1:1 meetings.

RM offers an excellent range of courses covering specific technical skills such as Financial Awareness and technical writing, as well as courses designed to improve general skills such as presentation style or time management.

There is also the opportunity to gain industry standard qualifications such as PRINCE2 and ITIL.

Future Progression

From this role you could progress to become a Project Manager, a Bid Manager as well as having opportunities to move into the delivery arena such as service management and team leadership.


Qualification and Experience

A 2:1 or first class honours degree.

260 UCAS tariff points or equivalent.

In addition you will have:

- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal;
- Demonstrable influencing skills;
- A strong customer focus;
- A tenacious and imaginative approach to problem-solving;
- The ability to work under pressure in high profile team environments.

Preferred experience will include:

- Experience in a customer facing role.
