The Role

The UK Government is committed to renewing schools and transforming standards of secondary education. Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the largest single investment programme in UK education for over fifty years. The Government is committed to spending £45 billion 6 to rebuild or refurbish every secondary school within the next 15 years.

The BSF Programme Manager has a challenging opportunity for a graduate who wants a career in project management.

RM's BSF Team is responsible for the identification of, and bidding for, multi-million pounds, long term contracts in response to the UK Government's BSF initiative. The bids require RM to describe in detail their proposed solution, a plan for the implementation programme, how the service will be managed and how transformation will be achieved. The BSF Programme Management team provide project management and programme support to the BSF bid teams.

The role of Graduate Project Manager within the BSF Programme Management Team is to provide:
- to provide project management support to the Bid Project Managers and the overall BSF Bid Programme;
- to be responsible for maintaining the overall BSF programme "flightdeck" plan and the BSF bid document web portal
- take Project Management responsibility for specific bid activities or stages


Responsibilities

- Responsibility for maintaining the BSF Programme "Flightdeck" plan and facilitating the project resource planning process.
- Responsibility for administration and management of the BSF bid web portal (the BSF bid web portal is the repository for all BSF bid and supporting documents)
- Provide project support to the Bid Project Managers
- Assist the BSF Programme Manager in the planning or managing of internal improvement projects.
- Assist with the planning and management of the transition of projects from the bid teams to the delivery team(s)
- Project management responsibility for specific bid activities.

The role has responsibility for maintaining the BSF Programme "Flightdeck" project plan. The Flightdeck plan is a key resource planning and information sharing tool. It is critical it is kept up to date and is accurate as it is used on a daily basis by senior managers and divisional resource managers.

A key element of the role will be to develop strong relationships within the BSF team and with operational managers across the business. In addition some external relationship contact is expected.

We expect successful candidates to start taking on real project management responsibilities as soon as they are able.


Training & Development
You will work alongside experienced senior project managers who have delivered major projects in different industry sectors and in a variety of countries. We offer 1:1 mentoring opportunities to help you focus on developing your job specific and interpersonal skills and courses to assist you in using project management software.

We are also keen to support further study and would expect you to take the PRINCE2 qualification within your first couple of years.

Future Progression

This role is intended to introduce the jobholder to RM, the company structure and the business processes. The jobholder will gain exposure to specific elements of Bid Project Management and the key elements of general Project Management

Success in this role provides a solid foundation for progressing a career in project management within RM.


Qualifications & Experience

A 2:1 or first class honours degree in any discipline.

260 UCAS tariff points or equivalent .
