If you’ve got artistic flair and care about the environment then a new competition just launched by the European Union could be just up your green street.
Britain’s leading organic control body, Organic Farmers & Growers (OF&G) is urging all UK design students to enter the competition to design a new image that will be used on every piece of organic food across the EU member states from 2012. Not only will the winner see their design widely used, but also win a prize of 6,000 Euros. There are other prizes for two runners-up.
Richard Jacobs, Chief Executive of OF&G, says: ‘Britain is very strong on creative talent and we would very much like to see a flood of entries from here. As well as prize money, the winner will be able to claim the kudos of having their design used across the EU for years to come.’
A website has been launched to promote the competition where the rules and entry requirements are explained. Entries must be uploaded through the website by the closing deadline of midnight GMT on June 26th this year. Only one entry is allowed per person. The website can be found at http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/organic/logo/.
