Sector - Management

Management

Start Salary: £20,000-35,000
Professional Salary: anything from £50,000-100,000
Required Qualifications: Degree, preferably in: business, economics, finance, mathematics, computing, and management.

No matter if a business is small or huge, all of them need managers to run their day-to-day operations and make decisions on everything: from staffing levels, to the best use of other resources. Most managers will start at a junior level and then, through a mixture of training and experience, rise through middle management to senior levels. Some even go on to run the whole business or start up their own businesses.
It doesn't matter what degree you have taken at university because you can become a manager in any sector and in any discipline: there are business managers, HR managers, finance managers and marketing managers in everything from restaurant chains to large manufacturing firms across the country. You could start your career in management on a graduate training scheme, and then rise through the ranks, although some people opt to study management at postgraduate level in order to fast-track their careers. Other jobs associated with management are Team Leader, Junior Manager, Branch Manager and Franchise Holder.
