What do you do in your job?
My job is to assist the account manager and make sure that the accounts run smoothly. I work as the middleman and make sure I fulfil the clients’ needs. I have to make sure the clients are happy, making any amendments that are needed, because I’m running the account for the client. For example, if they need flyers handed out I’d be responsible for organising that.
What was your motivation in applying?
The reason I like this industry is that it’s so fun and young, and has a great culture. Of course, it depends on the agency you work with. For me, it was the type of courses I did which influenced my decision. For example, I did Art, Drama and Film for my A-levels but did not want to go into any of those specific industries. This was a good choice for me.
What do you enjoy about your job?
It’s a really great way to meet new people. There’s a real social aspect and if you are friendly it’s great.
Any advice to readers considering a career in your field?
Just keep handing in CVs and do as much work experience as possible. Most places won’t even look at you if you have no experience. Also, at the start, you must be prepared to work for free.
