Jobs In PR
Fancy a career in PR? Kathryn Cozens graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in public policy, government and management. She now works for CHA, the workplace communications consultancy.
Q How did you find your current position?
I searched on the internet for agencies that take on graduates and offer work experience, and CHA caught my eye.
Q What approaches did you take to get employed?
PR is about communication and presentation, so I made my CV concise and eye-catching. For my interview, I bought a new suit and put together a portfolio of my writing and experience.
Q What skills are needed for your line of work?
Good communication skills and a "can-do" attitude will not only get you on the ladder but will also help you progress through the industry. Get involved in your student newspaper, or get a part time job that involves writing to customers.
Q What tips would you offer students looking for work?
Be professional, creative and business-savvy. Finally, research the industry thoroughly.
