ABOUT THIS UNIVERSITY
In the competitive environment of business, organisations are increasingly selective in their choice of employees. Whilst a good first degree will provide a strong foundation for career development, a Durham Masters aims to give you a head start by providing you with general and specialist knowledge that can be applied in a wide range of organisation settings, and a skills toolkit much valued by employers. Together, these can improve employability and support career enhancement.
Durham Business School offers a broad portfolio of Masters Degree Programmes in business, management, economics and finance. The curricula are designed to ensure coverage of relevant theoretical, conceptual and practical aspects of the subject area and can be used as a successful platform from which to launch your career or progress to future study at MPhil or PhD level.
Skills Development Programme
The Skills Development Programme runs alongside the taught academic programme and ensures that Durham MA and MSc graduates possess the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to excel in the business world. It is modelled upon those skills sought by leading postgraduate recruiters.
International Opportunities
Time abroad can provide you with an insight into the life, culture, language and business of another country; create new contacts; and help you to stand out when seeking employment. As part of your Durham MA or MSc programme you may have the opportunity to enhance your study experience by participating in an International Study Tour to a European destination, such as Geneva, which takes place at the beginning of the Easter vacation in March/April each year. This opportunity is not mandatory to your course, and is, therefore, self-funded.
It may also be possible for the School to facilitate a link between you and one of our international partner institutions should you wish to carry out research or a business project at a specific international location during your dissertation period. You would need to know the theme of your research and the location, and discuss this with your Programme Director/Dissertation Supervisor first.
