Real World Awards 2008

Now in its fifth year, previously running under the title of Graduate of the Year, the Real World Awards celebrate the achievements of students who have shown energy, attitude and commitment to extra curricular, work or community based activities.

Real World is looking for students who have gone that extra mile and made the most of their time at university. This year, because of the popularity of the competition, we have introduced a number of new categories:

* - The Socially Responsible Student of the Year, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
* - The Entrepreneur of the Year award, sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car
* - The Most Improved Club or Society, sponsored by Real World
* - The Contribution to University category, sponsored by Real World

There is a prize of between £1,000 and £5,000 for the winners of each category along with being part of a feature in a forthcoming edition of Real World Magazine, and national and regional media coverage.

The deadline for entry is Friday, 4 July at 5pm and the voting deadline will be on the 1st August at 5pm.

Graduate of the Year 2007
Congratulations to Alexander Mclean winner of the most recent Graduate of the Year competition. He was the founding member of the African Prison's project - a charity which raises money to refurbish clinics and libraries in maximum security prisons in sub-Saharan Africa. The main aim of the charity is to provide a basic level of education and healthcare to death row prisoners. He has set up a website, www.africanprisons.com, which documents the charity's development and media coverage. To read more about Alexander, and the other finalists, read Real World: Leaders magazine, which is out in November 2007.
